Photograph a painting or drawing. Art Mentor gives an honest critique — composition, colour, handling, and what to try next. No class, no waiting on a forum.
Bring your own work, or a master. Three looks are free.
My work
Something you have made
Art Mentor looks as a direct, honest tutor would — what holds, and what to try next. Feedback follows the medium it sees (oil, watercolour, drawing, digital, and so on).
- Overall impression — what the piece communicates
- Composition, balance, and visual flow
- Colour, harmony, and tonal values
- Style, technique, and medium
- Strengths, named specifically
- Four things to try, with concrete guidance
Masters
A museum or gallery work
Identified if possible, then read as a study: history, hand, and what makes it last. Like standing with a curator, without the crowd.
- Work, artist, and period
- Character, mood, and historical place
- Structure and visual hierarchy
- Palette, values, and light
- Movement, medium, and technique
- What to study next
Is this an AI art critic?
Yes — a tutor that looks at the picture you bring, not a generator that makes pictures. It does not paint for you. It reads what is already there.
How is this different from asking ChatGPT?
Built for one job: look at the work. Medium is detected, the reading follows oil, watercolour, drawing or digital, and you can ask a follow-up beside the hanging. No prompt-writing.
Who is it for?
Anyone who paints or draws and wants a straight view — hobbyists, students, and working artists between classes. Not for generating images.
Will it recognise any artwork in Masters?
Well-known works from art history, if the photograph is clear. Lesser-known or very new work may not be named, but still receives a thorough reading.
What image formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF. Images are compressed before looking, so the wait stays short.
Are my images stored?
Images are sent for analysis and are not kept as a private archive. Your looks are saved on this device. If you choose Share, an anonymous thumbnail and excerpt go to the community gallery.
Does it tailor feedback to the medium?
Yes. Oil is read for paint handling; drawing for line and tone; and so on.
How honest is the looking?
As a trusted tutor would be — direct, not flattering. Genuine strengths, and a clear view of what needs attention.
Usage policy
Art Mentor is an educational tool. By submitting an image you confirm that:
- For My work, the piece is your own original creation and you have the right to upload it.
- For Masters, you are bringing a work to study — a photograph of a painting, drawing, or sculpture is welcome.
- The content does not include illegal material, explicit sexual or pornographic imagery, abuse, hate content, or anything that violates applicable laws.
Harmful or illegal images will be turned away. We do not refuse a looking because a work looks famous, photographic, or previously shown.
